BREAKTHROUGH: ignition of thermonuclear reaction is within reach as experiment creates record amounts of energy

The ignition of thermonuclear reaction just got much closer. An experiment at the NIF facility in US yielded 1.3 MJ (mega jouls) of energy, that means 71 % of the energy used to jump-start the reaction. When an ignition is reached, the created energy will surpass the energy used.
