Previously unknown filament of gas is connecting two of our galaxys arms

New structure was discovered in our own galaxy. A filament of dense gases connects two of Milky Way's arms. Similar bridges can be found in other galaxies, however this is the first time we saw something like this in our own backyard. It was named Gangotri wave after a glacier in Himalayas that feed the Ganges river.
