Astronomers using data from TESS telescope observed behavior resembling our own Sun in stars of the binary system 12 Boötis.
The Solar Orbiter probe got close to the Sun during its March flyby and took some amazing pictures of its surface. The probe was closer than planet Mercury at that time. Solar Orbiter is a European mission with NASA contributions. It launched in 2020 and its aim is to study the Sun from polar orbit.
Astronomers detected unusually strong flare coming out of nearby star EK Draconis. Even though the star is in many ways similar to our Sun, the flare was much bigger than anything observed in the Solar system.
Astronomers led by Byeong-Cheol Lee have made a groundbreaking discovery, detecting a brown dwarf orbiting the red giant HD 18438. With a radius of 89 times that of the Sun, HD 18438 is now the largest known star to be orbited by an exoplanet or brown dwarf.
